Commuting from NJ to NYC

Filed under: Martha McDonnell - Summit NJ Blog

Here are the some guidelines:

Most towns on the Midtown Direct & Gladstone train lines ONLY offer resident permit parking, except for Morristown & Summit; Convent Station offers non-resident parking for Harding Township residents only. New Jersey Transit List of Parking Facilities.

Chatham Township does not offer resident parking, there are a few metered spots at the Chatham Boro station but are usually taken after the first or second train in the am.

Before you buy or rent I ALWAYS recommend a dry run; try the commute one day in BOTH directions and during actual commuting times. Some people will try it on a weekend when the train schedule is limited and then get discourage for no true reason.

Our first choice may be the train , but take a look at the bus schedule,  NY Water Ways, driving to Jersey City & parking or taking the PATH.

Send me your questions, happy to give you some pointers.
